Celebrating 10 Years of the Aircraft Maintenance Academy at Humberside Airport

This month marks a decade since the Aircraft Maintenance Academy (AMA) at Humberside Airport opened its doors, delivering our defence sector client, BAE Systems, with an industry-leading aircraft maintenance training facility and a secure pipeline of skilled and competent aircraft maintainers for the future. Resource Group is significantly involved in every aspect of the AMA operation, including training services and delivery, facilities management, training assets, and student accommodation.
Since 2015, a total of 559 learners have been trained across several key full-time programmes including the Basic Aircraft Maintenance Technician (BAMT) programme, fully approved Part-66 Category A and B1.1 courses, and the Engineering Degree Apprenticeship Scheme (EDAS). A multitude of short courses have also been provided, making a vital contribution to maintaining the currency and competency of our clients workforce.
This milestone follows the announcement of our newly secured 5-year contract extension with BAE Systems through to 2030, reaffirming our shared commitment to excellence and the development of world-class aircraft maintainers.
To mark the occasion, our Managing Director, Ian Fitzpatrick, and Head of the AMA, Tony Lally, hosted a celebratory lunch with staff, sharing stories and successes.

Ian Fitzpatrick shared “It has been an absolute privilege to be involved with the AMA right from its inception to the present day. Its outstanding success in achieving its core mission can be directly attributed to the close collaboration and development of a ‘one team’ approach across Resource Group and BAE Systems stakeholders toward a shared objective. It was a pleasure to spend some time with the AMA team celebrating the 10th anniversary, all of whom can be justifiably proud of their contributions.”
In addition, on the 5th September 2025, staff at the AMA held a charity event to commemorate the milestone. The event consisted of a half marathon which finished at the North Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, where food and entertainment were provided.
The event raised money for our chosen charity, Mind. Should you wish to donate, please do so via the link here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/ama-half-marathon25
A huge thank you to everyone involved who’s been part of this successful journey. Here’s to the chapter!
