ELCAS FAQs
ELCAS (Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service) is a Ministry of Defence scheme that provides financial support for eligible current and former members of the UK military to pursue higher-level learning. It helps fund recognised qualifications that support career development and transition into civilian employment.
Our ELCAS accredited training ID number is: 1472
Eligibility depends on your length of service, when you joined the military, and whether you have sufficient qualifying service. The easiest way to check is by logging into your ELCAS account or contacting the ELCAS team directly.
ELCAS funding can cover up to 80% of eligible course fees, subject to the annual funding cap and scheme rules. Learners are normally responsible for paying the remaining contribution.
Usually, yes. ELCAS funding contributes towards eligible course fees, but learners are generally responsible for paying the remaining balance and any additional costs not covered by the scheme.
Yes. Most eligible service leavers can continue to use their Enhanced Learning Credits for a set period after leaving service, provided they meet the scheme requirements and apply before their entitlement expires.
ELCAS funding with Resource Group can only be used towards our UK CAA Part 66 B1 & B2 Self-Study courses and associated Part-66 approved examinations.
All ELCAS students enrol on a complete UK CAA Part 66 CAT B Self-Study aircraft maintenance engineering course bundle, which includes:
- 24 months’ access to all Part 66 course materials
- UK CAA-aligned training content
- One attempt at each module examination
Access to approved examination centres across the UK and Ireland.
The application process usually involves:
- Choose an approved learning provider, such as LRTT (Resource Group).
- Applying for a Claim Authorisation Note (CAN) through your ELCAS account.
- Receiving approval from ELCAS before your course begins.
- Providing your CAN to your training provider so that your order can be processed.
Processing times vary throughout the year, so it’s advisable to apply well in advance of your course start date. Waiting until the last minute can delay your enrolment.
A Claim Authorisation Note (CAN) is your official approval from ELCAS that allows your provider to claim funding on your behalf. You should always receive your CAN before starting your course.
Yes. Eligible learners can normally make multiple claims throughout their entitlement, subject to the scheme rules and annual claim limits.
If your circumstances change, contact both your training provider and ELCAS as soon as possible. Depending on when you withdraw or defer, it may affect your funding or future claims.
