Exam FAQs

1. How do I book an exam?

Our Part 66 Instructor-Led courses include an exam on the final day of the course, which students are automatically enrolled onto. The exam is taken at our Cotswold Airport facility and is included in the course fee.

Our Part 66 Self-Study courses do not include examinations, and these need to be purchased separately. When you would like to book onto an exam, please email LRTTbookings@resourcegroup.co.uk and we will send you a link to a private booking page on our website. Please note, you will not be able to book or amend an exam order within 10 working days of the exam date. If your exam has already been paid for by your employer or is part of your ELCAS package, please indicate this in the email so we can send you a discount code which will enable you to book free of charge.

2. Where are the exams located?

We currently have six exam hubs with plans to expand in both the UK and internationally. Our current exam locations includes Cotswold, Luton, Stansted and Aberdeen airports, with other examination hubs in Greater Manchester and Shannon (Ireland).

3. How much are the exams?

Our exams are priced between £65 – £95 (+ VAT) each, depending on the exam location. When you go to book your examination, the price will be confirmed once you’ve selected your location.

4. Are the courses and exams UK CAA or EASA?

Instructor-Led Courses:

All our Category B instructor-led courses are delivered in line with the UK CAA Part-66 regulations. Therefore, any instructor-led exam resits will be examined under the same conditions. If you wish to gain an EASA Certificate of Recognition, you will need to purchase the EASA Part 66 Self-Study material and examination separately.

Self-Study Courses:

Our Part 66 Self-Study product is available in both UK CAA and EASA variants (post EASA CIR 2023/989). If you purchase a UK CAA Self-Study product, you will only be eligible to purchase a UK CAA examination. If you wish to gain an EASA Certificate of Recognition, you will need to purchase the EASA self-study material and examination for that module separately.

5. How many exams can I do in one sitting?

At our Cotswold Airport facility, we can offer two exams in one session, subject to restrictions. Please contact LRTTbookings@resourcegroup.co.uk for more information and availability.

All our other exam hub locations operate on a strict one exam per session rule.

6. What happens if I fail an exam?

If you fail an exam, you’ll have the opportunity to schedule a resit within the terms of the Part-66 regulations, e.g. 90-day/12-month stand-down periods. All resit examinations are chargeable.

7. Why do I need to wait 90 days or 12 months for a resit after 3 exam attempts?

These rules are regulated by the UK CAA and EASA, meaning we need to enforce compliance. Failure to adhere to these rules will lead to the invalidation of your exam, and you will need to pay for a resit.

8. How long is an exam?

The length of exams depends on the licence category and module that you are taking. For more information, please email us at info@resourcegroup.co.uk.

9. How do I prepare for my essay examination?

Modules 7, 9 and 10 contain an essay examination. For individuals completing these modules, you will also be given access to an essay extract pack which is a condensed version of the course training material. The pack will support students when preparing for essay examinations, within the terms of the regulations.

Essay Extract Packs are rotated every six months, on 1st January and 1st July each year. The latest pack will always be available via your iAcademy account. When booking your essay examination, please ensure you have sufficient time to access the latest essay extract pack.
