The development of the AMA was based on the intellectual property of the LRTT main base at Cotswold Airport, and followed on from several years of capability stand up for the client in a previously developed Resource Group facility at Doncaster. Resource Group was charged with finding a suitable site, specifying the academy design, equipping it, finding the right partners to fund the build of the academy, negotiating a long-term lease to be held by Resource Group, and ultimately providing training programmes and delivery staff to meet the client’s future maintenance training requirements. The whole project was achieved on time and on budget, and Resource Group (through LRTT Ltd) now has years of flawless delivery against this prestigious contract. The contract to operate the AMA is highly innovative; it is administered through an overarching 10-year business agreement, underpinned by a series of flexible schedules that are used to enact the agreement. It is funded through an annually negotiated purchase order that is based on fixed and flexible costs, the latter of which can be adjusted against variations in training throughput for instance. Quarterly contract review meetings are held to administer the contract where KPIs and financial reconciliations are formalised. All savings on flexible costs are passed back to the client.
Resource Group’s training division has worked closely with the Icelandic Technical School to develop a comprehensive EASA Part-66 fully approved training programme. Since 2009, we have worked with the Icelandic Technical School in Reykjavik to establish a B1.1 Technician Training Programme on the island. Traditionally individuals were trained at a variety of sites overseas, but the growing demand from Icelandair and other operators on the island merited the set up of a local solution. LRTT played an integral part in a coalition with the Icelandic Flight Academy, the Icelandic Technical Schools, most of the operators on the island and critically, the Icelandic Trade Unions, to facilitate and deliver a 2400 hour training programme that has endured to the present day.
